Sudden Ban on Swimming for Tourists at Panchalingam Falls Near Udumalai

Heavy rains caused a sudden ban on swimming at Panchalingam Falls near Udumalai, affecting tourists and local temple operations.

Coimbatore: Tourists at Panchalingam Falls near Udumalai, located at Thirumoorthy Hills, faced a sudden restriction this morning due to recent heavy rainfall, which resulted in a flash flood. Last night, areas like Gurumalai Kulipatti and Jallikattu Muthaan experienced intense rainfall leading to overflow at the falls and neighboring Amanalingeswarar Temple was submerged. The sunny weather earlier allowed swimming from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM today, but continued rain necessitated a swift ban, enforced by temple staff. Those who were in the water were immediately evacuated, and temple employees continue to patrol the area for safety.
