Heavy Rain in Goundampalayam Causes Hardship for Motorists

On May 18, continuous rain in various parts of Coimbatore has led to flooding, with heavy rainfall in certain areas creating difficulty for motorists, particularly in Goundampalayam where roads resembled streams.

Coimbatore: As summer's heat subsides, the onset of the monsoon rains brings a much-needed respite to Coimbatore, with almost daily rainfalls refreshing the region. However, not all effects are refreshing, as heavy rains in parts of the district on May 18 have caused significant disruptions. In Goundampalayam, copious rainfall turned streets into virtual rivers, challenging for vehicles to navigate.

Reports from the area suggest that in some places, the water level rose so high that it entered homes and disrupted daily life. Motorists faced severe difficulties, as water clogged engines and impeded vehicular movement. In Goundampalayam, the situation seemed particularly severe with vehicles stuck in stagnant water, causing long traffic snarls and distress among commuters. Safety measures and appropriate drainage are being examined to alleviate such occurrences in the future.
