Tourists Banned from Bathing in Valparai Koolangal River Due to Increased Water Flow

Due to heavy rainfall in Coimbatore district, water flow in Valparai's Koolangal River has increased. A bathing ban for tourists has been implemented as a safety measure to prevent accidents.

Coimbatore: Following a low-pressure area forming in the Southwest Bay of Bengal, as reported by the Chennai Meteorological Center, heavy rains are expected to move northwards and potentially turn into a cyclone the day after tomorrow.

This weather condition has caused widespread rainfall across various districts of Tamil Nadu, particularly in the Western Ghats. Consequently, Coimbatore district has experienced torrential downpours. The rainfall in Valparai has significantly increased the water level in the Koolangal River. Considering the potential risk of flooding, local authorities have issued a precautionary ban on bathing in the river to ensure the safety of tourists visiting the area.
