PMK Supporters Submit Petition by Kneeling at Coimbatore Collector's Office

PMK activists in Coimbatore submitted a petition, kneeling at the Collector's office, urging the removal of illegal brick kilns affecting elephant corridors and waterways in areas like Thadagam and Kanuvai.


Coimbatore: In a significant display, PMK activists led by the party's district secretary Raj, submitted a petition at the Coimbatore District Collector's office today, May 27, to address the environmental disruption caused by unauthorized brick kilns.

Gathering at the Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati's office, the activists, in a dramatic gesture, knelt down on one knee to underscore their plea. They claimed these kilns are adversely affecting the elephant migration paths and local water bodies in regions such as Thadagam, Kanuvai, Somayampalayam, and Mettupalayam.

The group also brought photographs and drawings depicting the damaged areas and held banners emphasizing the urgent need for intervention to safeguard their natural resources. Their act highlighted the ongoing environmental issues troubling these areas and demonstrated a unique form of protest to draw public and administrative attention to the crisis.
