Coimbatore Commissioner Inspects Damaged Roads and Instructs Rapid Repair

Commissioner M. Sivaguruprabakaran IAS conducted site inspections of damaged roads in Coimbatore’s Southern Zone, instructing swift repairs especially in waterlogged areas during the monsoon.


Coimbatore: In an extensive field visit today, Coimbatore City Municipal Commissioner M. Sivaguruprabakaran IAS assessed various damaged roads across the city. Beginning his tour in the Southern Zone, from Kurichi division up to Pothanur, he personally evaluated the road conditions. He emphasized the urgency of repairing roads to alleviate the commuters' difficulties, especially with the monsoon season approaching which often leads to significant waterlogging.




The inspection included regions from Mettupalayam Road to Tadagam Road covering approximately 1.82 kilometers planned for immediate maintenance. Commissioner Sivaguruprabhakaran ordered the repair works to be expedited and adhered to quality standards to prevent recurrent damages.






In addition to road inspections, the commissioner addressed the issue of accumulated rainwater in parks and on roads due to poor drainage systems. At a park located in Ward No. 20 of the Western Zone, he instructed the concerned officials to repair outdated playground equipment and ensure efficient drainage facilities to manage the monsoon showers effectively.






The field visit was attended by City Chief Engineer Mr. Anbalagan, Deputy City Engineer Mr. Karuppasamy, District Engineer Mr. Prasannavenkatesan, among other assistant commissioners and engineers. They collectively surveyed the areas, committing to prioritize the restoration of damaged infrastructure and enhancing public amenities.






Throughout the inspection, Commissioner Sivaguruprabhakaran highlighted the importance of maintaining these essential services and infrastructures which significantly affect daily life in Coimbatore. Ensuring timely and quality workmanship was underscored as crucial for the welfare of the city’s residents.
