CCTV Footage of Chain Snatching in Annur Goes Viral

Recently in Annur, near a grocery store, a man pretended to shop and snatched a 5-sovereign gold chain from Danalakshmi, aged 49. The incident's CCTV footage has now gone viral.


Coimbatore: In a startling incident captured on CCTV, a young man snatched a 5-sovereign gold chain from a woman in Annur. The victim, identified as Danalakshmi, 49, was targeted while shopping at a local grocery store. The accused, who initially pretended to be a shopper, swiftly carried out the theft, leaving the victim in shock.

Following the incident, Danalakshmi filed a complaint with the Annur police, who promptly registered a case and launched an investigation. On May 28, the police arrested 23-year-old Philip Mathew in connection with the theft.

The CCTV footage showing the act of chain snatching has been released online and has quickly gone viral, attracting widespread attention. Local authorities continue their efforts to address and mitigate such acts of theft in the region.
