Coimbatore's Ukkadam Periyakulam Enhances Surveillance with Patrol Vehicles Equipped with Sirens

In Ukkadam Periyakulam, Coimbatore, surveillance has been intensified using patrol vehicles equipped with sirens, as part of the Smart City project improving urban lakes and amenities.

Coimbatore: As part of the Central Government's Smart City initiative, significant enhancements have been made across multiple water bodies in Coimbatore, including Ukkadam Periyakulam, Valankulam, Krishnampathi, Kumaraswamy Kulam, and Kurichi Kulam. These lakes are being upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs. 1,000 crores, incorporating parks and walkways to improve city aesthetics and public spaces.

Recent developments have especially focused on Ukkadam Periyakulam where the lack of adequate maintenance equipment and surveillance has previously led to disregard of public decorum by individuals, especially during the night and even daytime. To combat these issues, a small electric patrol vehicle has now been deployed along with machines to clean pathways, enhancing the overall environment and safety of the area.

Further boosting security, Ukkadam Periyakulam is now being monitored through three-wheeled patrol vehicles equipped with sirens. These vehicles enable patrolling staff to effectively oversee surrounding activities standing at a height of 1.5 feet. Additionally, sirens and announcements via microphones are made by the patrol personnel to maintain order, ensuring the safety and aesthetic standards of the locale are upheld.
