Thousands Gather for the Renowned Sulakkal Mariamman Temple Chariot Festival in Pollachi

Over 5000 devotees from neighboring villages pulled the chariot during the famous Sulakkal Mariamman Temple festival in Pollachi, which began on the 13th with rituals including fasting and deity worship.


Coimbatore: The ancient and widely renowned Sulakkal Mariamman Temple, located near Pollachi, witnessed a massive turnout as over 5000 devotees from adjacent areas and other states like Kerala and Karnataka participated in the annual chariot festival.



This major religious event, held in the first week of Vaikasi, involves various traditional ceremonies attracting devotees nationwide.

The festival commenced on the 13th with devotees undertaking fasting and performing elaborate rituals like carrying sacred pots and making offerings. The highlight of the festival, the temple chariot procession, kicked off today, with devotees donning the idol in red silk and pulling the magnificently decorated chariot, fulfilling their vows and offering prayers.



This event not only showcases the deep spiritual culture but also unites thousands in a shared expression of faith. The temple officials have announced that the chariot procession will continue for three days, enhancing the cultural and religious significance of this annual event.
