Coimbatore: In a major blow to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu, the party lost deposits in 10 out of the 19 constituencies they contested. Among these, notable constituencies include North Chennai where Pal Kanagaraj contested, and Chidambaram represented by Karthiyayini. Other constituencies where the deposits were lost are Karur, Salem, Nagapattinam, Namakkal, Thanjavur, Tirupur, Thiruvallur, Tiruvannamalai, and Virudhunagar, with candidates such as Senthilnathan, Ramesh, K.P. Ramalingam, Karuppu Muruganantham, A.P. Muruganantham, Pon Balaganapathi, Aswathaman, Annadurai and Radhika Sarathkumar respectively.

In addition, the NDA alliance, which includes the BJP, contested a total of 40 constituencies across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, losing deposits in 21 of them. Partners in the alliance also faced similar setbacks, with PMK losing deposits in 6 out of the 10 constituencies it contested: Dindigul - Thilagabama, Kallakurichi - Devadas, Kanchipuram - Jothi, Mayiladuthurai - Stalin, Salem - Mayiladuthurai, and Viluppuram - Muralisankar.

Other members of the NDA alliance also encountered deposit losses, including TMC, which lost deposits in all three constituencies it contested: Erode - Vijayakumar, Sriperumbudur - Venugopal, and Thoothukudi - Vijaysheelan. AMMK competed in two constituencies, losing the deposit in one: Trichy - Senthilnathan. In the BJP alliance, IJK contested in one constituency but lost its deposit.

21. Perambalur - Parivendhar

Overall, this reflects a challenging electoral scenario for the BJP and its allies in this region, indicating a need for strategic reevaluation ahead of future elections.
