Kovai people have voted out AIADMK; No Future Alliance with them: BJP Leader Annamalai

BJP State leader Annamalai, before departing to Delhi, stated at Coimbatore airport that the people of Coimbatore have rejected AIADMK and ruled out any future alliances with them.

Coimbatore: Speaking to reporters at the Coimbatore airport before his departure to Delhi, BJP State leader Annamalai critically addressed the post-election remarks of AIADMK leader SP Velumani. Annamalai highlighted the historical loss AIADMK faced in Tamil Nadu during the 2019 elections where they failed to secure even a single seat, asserting that the BJP had a significant win with 303 seats at the national level.

Annamalai expressed doubts about any future alliances with AIADMK, citing their poor performance and inability to secure seats independently in Coimbatore. "It seems like an afterthought to perform sun salutations after going blind," Annamalai remarked metaphorically, dismissing any chances of aligning with the AIADMK in future electoral engagements.

Adding further strain to AIADMK's internal dynamics, he hinted at apparent internal conflicts between SP Velumani and former Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami, suggesting it affected their electoral outcome. He questioned how Velumani could promise up to 30 seats while standing alone.

The BJP leader reflected on the stronger performance BJP could have demonstrated, potentially securing 30 to 35 seats if it were not impacted by internal party strife. Annamalai's statements underscore a clear shift in political strategy, focusing on strengthening BJP’s standalone efforts in upcoming elections, expressing commitment to fulfilling promises gradually, and aiming for victory step by step.

"Coimbatore’s rejection of AIADMK has emboldened us," Annamalai concluded, underlining the shift in public support towards BJP and asserting the commitment to the people of Coimbatore. He strongly denied any plans to reconsider alliances with AIADMK, portraying the party's intent to forge a path of growth and success independently.
