District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati Advocates the Benefits of 'Pudumai Penn' Scheme for Girls in Coimbatore

District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati urges schools to encourage girl students from 6th to 12th grade to benefit from the 'Pudumai Penn' scheme, promising financial support until higher education.

Coimbatore: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati recently highlighted the Tamil Nadu government's 'Pudumai Penn' scheme, aimed at supporting girl students in government schools by providing a monthly stipend of Rs. 1,000 deposited directly into their bank accounts. The initiative is designed to support educational expenses of girls from 6th to 12th grade, continuing until the completion of their higher education.

The scheme has been instrumental in increasing the enrollment rates among girls for higher education in government schools. According to the District Collector's announcement, as of now, 15,909 girls in the district are benefitting from this scheme. Previously, only girls studying in government schools were eligible for this benefit.

However, starting from the academic year 2024-2025, the scheme will be expanded to include girls studying in Tamil medium in government-aided schools as well. This was announced by the Chief Minister on March 11th. The extension of this scheme is expected to empower more girls by providing them financial aid to support their educational endeavors.
