Community-Driven Initiatives Flourish at Panneermadai Housing in Coimbatore

In Panneermadai East, Coimbatore, a Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board apartment complex witnessed a free eye camp and regular maintenance similar to private residences, enhancing community engagement.

Coimbatore: Residents of the Panneermadai East housing complex in Thudiyalur, under the aegis of the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board, have transformed their living space into a model of cleanliness and communal harmony.

The area, part of a 64-apartment complex built by the board, hosts diverse groups including differently-abled persons and transgender individuals.

The residents have established a welfare association, spearheading initiatives that rival private residences in maintenance and aesthetic appeal. They have significantly beautified the area by planting various types of vegetation and maintaining stringent cleanliness. The exemplary management of this public housing facility has set a high standard across government housing projects in Coimbatore.

Moreover, the residents' association played a crucial role in coordinating a special free eye camp conducted by The Eye Foundation. This health camp was inaugurated by Nanjundapuram village Panchayat Leader V. K. V. Karthikeswari Sundarraj and former leader V. K. V. Sundarraj, emphasizing community health initiatives within the housing complex.

Jothilakshmi, the leader of the residents' welfare association, presided over the event, which saw significant attendance from community members and local officials including TN Urban Habitat Development Board Project Engineer Madasamy along with Assistant Engineer Sudharsan and Community Development Assistant Visweswaran.

This initiative not only enhances the living standards of the residents but also fosters a strong sense of community, making the Panneermadai housing in East Thudiyalur a benchmark for public residential projects.
