Bus Fined Rs 2000 for Parking in No-Parking Zone Near Coimbatore Railway Station

A bus was fined Rs 2000 for being parked in a no-parking zone on the road near Coimbatore Railway Station, creating heavy traffic congestion.

Coimbatore: A notable incident occurred on the busy streets near Coimbatore Railway Station, as a bus was fined Rs 2000 for parking in a designated no-parking area. The area near the railway station, which serves as a critical junction for traffic in and out of Coimbatore, often experiences congestion due to inadequate parking facilities for buses. These buses frequently travel to and from various parts of the city, including Kanuvai and Somanur.

While buses are customarily stopped temporarily to drop off and pick up passengers, some violate road rules by parking in no-parking zones. This not only disrupts the traffic flow but also leads to bottlenecks, particularly during peak hours. The fined bus, belonging to a private transportation service identified only by its number, "11", was notably parked unlawfully, leading authorities to clamp the bus's front wheel before imposing a fine.

In response to the incident on June 20, traffic police immediately clamped the front wheel of the bus, and a fine of Rs 2000 was levied for violating parking norms. Subsequently, the conductor of the bus paid the fine and moved the vehicle, addressing the issue.

This action underscores the ongoing efforts by local authorities to manage traffic effectively and maintain order on the roads surrounding Coimbatore Railway Station. It also serves as a reminder to all public transport vehicles about the importance of adhering to parking regulations to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety for all road users.

This incident highlights the challenges faced by urban areas in regulating parking and managing traffic, particularly in busy zones like that of a major railway station. Efforts continue to enhance traffic management and penalize rule violations effectively to curb similar disruptions in the future.
