Man Detained Under Goondas Act for Selling Ganja in Karumathampatti, Coimbatore

In Karumathampatti, Coimbatore, Malik Basha, from Madurai district, was arrested for possession and sale of 1.35 kilograms of ganja, facing stringent action under the Goondas Act.


Coimbatore: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Coimbatore's Karumathampatti police have arrested a 26-year-old man, Malik Basha, for possessing and selling a substantial amount of ganja. Residing from Madurai district, Basha was found with 1.35 kilograms of ganja intended for sale.


The arrest led to a recommendation by Coimbatore's Deputy Commissioner of Police, Badrinayaranan, to invoke the Goondas Act against Basha due to the detrimental impact of his actions on public order and health. Following this, the District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati ordered stringent action under the Goondas Act, resulting in Basha's confinement today, June 21.
