Extension of Tirunelveli-Mettupalayam Special Train Service Announced

Southern Railway has extended the weekly special train service between Tirunelveli and Mettupalayam. This service will continue to cater to passengers for extra weeks in July.


Coimbatore: In a recent release by Southern Railway, the special weekly train service running between Tirunelveli and Mettupalayam has been extended. This decision comes as a response to the persistent demand from commuters for enhanced connectivity between these stations.

Passengers can now avail themselves of train no. 06030 departing from Tirunelveli every Sunday, from July 7 to July 28, 2024, at 7:00 PM. The train will arrive in Mettupalayam the following morning at 7:30 AM. Conversely, train no. 06029 will leave Mettupalayam every Monday, within the same dates, at 7:45 PM, reaching Tirunelveli the next morning at 7:45 AM.

Furthermore, the route includes multiple key stops such as Cheranmahadevi, Kallidaikurichi, Ambasamudram, Keelakadayam, Pabhoorchattram, Tenkasi, Kadayanallur, Sankarankovil, Rajapalayam, Srivilliputhur, Sivakasi, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Ottanchatram, Palani, Udumalaipettai, Coimbatore, and Pollachi. These stops greatly enhance the connectivity across multiple towns and districts, providing a vital link for passengers in these regions to major cities.

This extension will be beneficial not only for regular commuters but also tourists visiting scenic and religious sites along the route.
