Increased Surveillance on Maoist Activities Along Tamil Nadu-Kerala Border

Officials intensify monitoring of Maoist movement and illegal brewing in the border areas of Anaikatti, Gopanari, Koodappatti, and Ezhuthukalputhur, under the directive of Coimbatore's District Forest Officer.


Coimbatore: In response to potential threats along the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border, forest officials have ramped up surveillance to monitor Maoist activities and illicit liquor brewing. The team, led by the Periyanayakanpalayam Forest Range Officer, is carrying out inspections and investigations among the local communities in Anaikatti, Gopanari, Koodappatti, and Ezhuthukalputhur. This action follows orders from Coimbatore's District Forest Officer.



During patrols in the forested border areas, no evidences of Maoist movement or illegal alcohol production have been found to date. These areas, known for their secluded and dense forests, have historically been potential hideouts. The forest department continues their vigilance to ensure safety and prevent any illegal activities.
