62 kg of tobacco products seized from a house near Chinnaveadampatti, Coimbatore; 3 arrested

Coimbatore police raided a house in Chinnaveadampatti on July 12, seizing 62 kg of tobacco products and arresting three individuals for illegal storage and sale.


Coimbatore: Acting on a tip-off, the Saravanampatti police conducted a raid on a house in Bharathi Street, Chinnaveadampatti, near Udayampalayam Road, Coimbatore, on July 12. The operation led to the seizure of 62 kg of tobacco products and the arrest of three individuals involved in the illegal storage and sale of these items.

The police received confidential information about the storage and sale of tobacco products in a residential property. Upon investigation, they discovered various brands of tobacco products, including Vimal, Hans, and Ganesh, stocked for sale.

The three arrested individuals were identified as Manikantan (45) from Subramaniam Nagar in Chinnaveadampatti, Balaji (35) from Ganapathy Rajiv Gandhi Road, and Ramkumar (32) from Ganapathy Mookambigai Nagar. All three were taken into custody for their involvement in the illegal tobacco trade.

The seized tobacco products, weighing a total of 62 kg, were confiscated by the police as evidence. This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Coimbatore police to curb the illegal sale and distribution of tobacco products in the city.
