New Bi-Weekly Express Train to Connect Tuticorin and Mettupalayam from July 2024

A new bi-weekly express train service between Tuticorin and Mettupalayam will commence on July 20, 2024. The train will run on Thursdays and Saturdays from Tuticorin and on Fridays and Sundays from Mettupalayam.


Coimbatore: The Southern Railway has announced the introduction of a new bi-weekly express train service connecting Tuticorin and Mettupalayam, set to begin operations from July 20, 2024. This new service, designated as Train No.16766/16765 Tuticorin – Mettupalayam – Tuticorin Bi-Weekly Express, will provide improved connectivity between the two cities.

The train will have a composition of one AC 2-Tier coach, two AC 3-Tier coaches, nine Sleeper Class coaches, four General Second Class coaches, and two Luggage Cum Brake Vans. This diverse range of accommodations aims to cater to various passenger preferences and budgets.

Train No.16766 Tuticorin – Mettupalayam Bi-Weekly Express will depart from Tuticorin at 22:50 hours on Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving at Mettupalayam at 07:40 hours on Fridays and Sundays. For the return journey, Train No.16765 Mettupalayam – Tuticorin Bi-Weekly Express will leave Mettupalayam at 19:35 hours on Fridays and Sundays, reaching Tuticorin at 04:20 hours on Saturdays and Mondays.

The express train will make stops at several key stations along its route, including Coimbatore, Kinathukadavu, Pollachi, Udumalaipet, Palani, Oddanchatram, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudunagar, Sattur, and Kovilpatti in both directions. This routing will enhance connectivity for passengers traveling between these intermediate stations and the terminal points of Tuticorin and Mettupalayam.
