In Chennai, gold prices witnessed a significant drop. A sovereign of gold now sells at Rs 51,920, marking a decrease of Rs 480. The price has fallen by Rs 2,680 in just two days.

Coimbatore: Gold prices in Chennai have taken a sharp downturn, bringing cheer to potential buyers, especially women. According to today's market rates, a sovereign of gold (8 grams) is now being sold at Rs 51,920, marking a significant decrease of Rs 480.

The decline in gold prices is even more pronounced when considering the trend over the past two days. In this short span, the price of a sovereign has plummeted by Rs 2,680, indicating a rapid depreciation in the precious metal's value.

For those interested in 22-carat gold, the price per gram has also seen a considerable drop. It has decreased by Rs 60 and is now being sold at Rs 6,490 per gram.

The sudden fall in gold prices, with a sovereign now costing below Rs 52,000, has been met with excitement among women buyers. This price point is seen as more accessible, potentially spurring increased interest in gold purchases.

Market analysts attribute this decline to various global economic factors and local market conditions. However, they advise buyers to keep track of daily fluctuations as gold prices are known for their volatility.
