Swami Kumaraguruparar Expresses Concern Over Youth Addiction at Guru Worship Day Celebration

Swami Kumaraguruparar addressed the Guru Worship Day celebration at Gowmara Madhalayam in Chinna Vedampatti, Coimbatore, expressing concern over youth addiction and emphasizing the importance of preserving Hindu traditions and Tamil language.


Coimbatore: The Guru Worship Day celebration was held at the Gowmara Madhalayam in Chinna Vedampatti, Coimbatore. Dr. Kumarasamy, co-patron of Kalaivani Educational Institutions and former Director of Collegiate Education, presided over the event. Thavathiru Marudhasala Adigalar of Perur Adheenam, Muthu Sivaramasamy Adigalar of Senjeri Malai Nandavanam Thirumadam, and Nilakizhar Sadhasivam were present. Ramalingam, former Principal Commissioner of Commercial Taxes Department, attended as a special guest.

Thavathiru Kumaraguruparar Swamigal blessed the chief guests and the public, delivering a special address. He spoke about the history of Gowmaram and its significant figures, including Vannasarabam Dhandapani Swamigal and Ramananda Swamigal, who founded the Gowmara Madhalayam in Chinna Vedampatti in 1890.

The Swamigal emphasized the importance of preserving Hindu traditions and spreading their significance worldwide. He expressed concern over the challenges faced by the religion and the younger generation. "We are losing our language. We see young people becoming addicted to drugs. This is painful," he said.

He also stressed that teachers are also gurus, not just religious leaders. The Swamigal suggested organizing a Guru Worship Day next year, bringing together all the religious heads in the Kongu region.

The event was attended by a large number of devotees and members of the public.
