One Killed in Drunken Brawl Near Pollachi-Valparai Road, Two Arrested

A 21-year-old man was stabbed to death near a private liquor shop on Pollachi-Valparai Road following a drunken altercation. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder.


Coimbatore: A drunken argument near a private liquor shop on the Pollachi-Valparai Road turned fatal, resulting in the death of a 21-year-old man. The Pollachi East Police have arrested two individuals in connection with the murder.

The incident came to light when police received information about a body with injuries found near Om Prakash Theater on the Pollachi-Valparai Road. Upon reaching the scene, the police recovered the body, which bore visible stab wounds.

Further investigation revealed that the deceased was identified as Aravindsamy, a 21-year-old driver from J.J. Nagar in Pollachi. He was married and had a four-month-old daughter.

The police identified the suspects as Faisal from Suleswaranpatti and Vimal from Mothirapuram. The duo was apprehended while roaming in the Pollachi area.

During interrogation, Vimal and Faisal confessed that they were pushing their two-wheeler on the Valparai Road due to lack of petrol. They stopped Aravind and asked him to help start their vehicle. An argument ensued when Aravind refused to assist them.

As Aravind attempted to leave the scene, Vimal and Faisal allegedly attacked and stabbed him, resulting in his immediate death at the spot.

The police have registered a murder case against the two suspects, who have been remanded to judicial custody.
