School Management Committee Restructuring Meeting Held Near Udumalpet

A School Management Committee restructuring meeting was held at a government primary school near Udumalpet, Tiruppur district, as part of a statewide initiative by the Tamil Nadu School Education Department.


Coimbatore: A School Management Committee (SMC) restructuring meeting was held today at a government primary school near Udumalpet, as part of a statewide initiative by the Tamil Nadu School Education Department. The meeting, which took place at the Ragalpavi Panchayat Union Primary School, was one of many conducted in 50% of schools in the Udumalpet area, following the guidelines of the Tiruppur District Chief Educational Officer.

The event began with a welcome address by teacher Kannapiran. Vijaya, the headmistress of Bharathiyar Centenary Girls Higher Secondary School, who was appointed as the meeting's observer by the district administration, explained the purpose and importance of the School Management Committee. She highlighted various government schemes such as the Girl Child Education Incentive Scheme and the Tamil Puthalvan Scheme, emphasizing the benefits of studying in government schools.



Tharani, the school's headmistress, stated that the School Management Committee plays a crucial role in fostering good relationships between teachers, parents, and students. Short films about the objectives of the SMC and the development of government schools were screened for the attendees.



During the meeting, a new committee was formed with 24 members, including Sangeetha as the chairperson, Priya as the vice-chairperson, and representatives from the Illam Thedi Kalvi (Education at Doorstep) volunteers and alumni. The newly elected members took an oath, and certificates from the Tamil Nadu government were distributed to all participants.



The restructuring meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Koneeshwari, a member of the School Management Committee. This initiative aims to strengthen the management and oversight of government schools, ensuring better educational outcomes for students across Tamil Nadu.
