NSS Unit of Karpagam Institute of Technology Participates in Grama Sabha Meeting at Bodipalayam

NSS volunteers from Karpagam Institute of Technology actively participated in the Grama Sabha meeting at Bodipalayam village on August 15, 2024. They engaged with villagers, discussed development issues, and promoted health awareness.


Coimbatore: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Karpagam Institute of Technology made a significant impact at the Grama Sabha meeting held in Bodipalayam village on Independence Day, August 15, 2024. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and villagers, highlighting the importance of youth involvement in rural development.

The Grama Sabha meeting, a democratic forum for villagers' direct participation in decision-making, addressed key issues concerning the village, including sanitation, education, health, and infrastructure development. NSS volunteers actively engaged with the villagers, offering insights and suggesting potential solutions to the problems discussed.



During the meeting, the NSS volunteers took the opportunity to educate villagers on various health and hygiene practices, aligning with the goals of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. They distributed pamphlets and conducted a brief awareness session on the importance of maintaining cleanliness in and around their homes.

Faculty members accompanying the NSS unit emphasized the role of higher education institutions in contributing to societal development. They stressed the need for continuous engagement between educational institutions and rural communities to foster sustainable development.



The event concluded with NSS volunteers and villagers jointly taking an oath to work towards the betterment of Bodipalayam village. Dr. S. Gopinath, NSS Programme Officer, successfully organized the Grama Sabha meeting, which showcased the positive impact of collaborative efforts between educational institutions and local communities on rural development.
