Over 20 graduate teachers demonstrated at the District Chief Educational Office in Coimbatore, pressing for a 20-point charter of demands including the implementation of the old pension scheme and incentive pay hikes.

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Graduate Teachers Association staged a protest at the District Chief Educational Office in Coimbatore, emphasizing a 20-point charter of demands. Saravanakumar, the Coimbatore district president of the association, led the demonstration.

More than 20 teachers, including Arulanandham, the state vice-president of the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Graduate Teachers Association, and other office bearers participated in the protest. The demonstrators raised slogans and expressed their dissatisfaction with the Tamil Nadu government's response to their long-standing demands.

The 20-point charter of demands included several crucial issues affecting the teaching community. Key among these were the immediate implementation of the old pension scheme for government employees and teachers, instant execution of incentive pay hikes, conversion of all teaching positions to permanent posts, and maintaining a teacher-student ratio of 1:25.

The protesting teachers urged the Tamil Nadu government to address their concerns promptly. They emphasized that these measures were essential for improving the quality of education and ensuring the welfare of educators across the state. The demonstration concluded with the protesters reiterating their commitment to continue their struggle until their demands are met.
