CPI State Secretary R. Mutharasan Pays Tribute to Jeeva on 118th Birth Anniversary

R. Mutharasan, CPI State Secretary, honored Jeeva's memory by garlanding his statue at Jeeva Illam in Coimbatore on August 21, 2024, marking the late communist leader's 118th birth anniversary.


Coimbatore: The Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary R. Mutharasan paid homage to the late communist leader Jeeva on his 118th birth anniversary in Coimbatore on August 21, 2024. Mutharasan garlanded Jeeva's statue at Jeeva Illam, commemorating the legacy of the renowned leader.



Jeeva, a prominent figure in Indian history, was known for his multifaceted contributions as a freedom fighter, accomplished litterateur, and eloquent orator. He was highly regarded by Mahatma Gandhi, who referred to him as a "national treasure."

The event was presided over by M. Arumugam, the party's State Treasurer. N. Periyasamy, State Deputy Secretary, and C. Sivasami, District Secretary, were also present at the occasion.

Several other party officials and members attended the tribute, including District Deputy Secretaries J. James and M. Gunasekhar, District Treasurer C. Thangavel, and District Executive Committee members P. Mounasamy, R. Duraisamy, and Santhichandran. S. Kottiyappan, ISCOP State Treasurer, N. Selvaraj, State General Secretary of Tamil Nadu AITUC Construction Workers Union, P. Subramanian, and K. Purushothaman were also in attendance.

Representatives from various other organizations participated in the event, including A. Ashraf Ali, District Secretary of the Oppressed People's Rights Movement, S. Shanmugam, Eastern Zone Secretary, P.S. Ramasamy, North Sulur Secretary, N. Chandran, Western Zone Secretary, A.P. Manibharati, Central Zone Deputy Secretary, and several others including Madukkarai Thangaraj, Sulur Kannan, Annur Selvaraj, and S. Kaleswaran from Anaimalai.

The gathering served as a testament to Jeeva's enduring influence and the respect he continues to command within the communist movement and beyond.
