India's First Reusable Hybrid Rocket on Mobile Launchpad developed by Space Zone India and Martin Group to Launch on August 24

Space Zone India and Martin Group unveil Mission RHUMI 2024, featuring India's first reusable hybrid rocket on a mobile launchpad, set to launch on August 24, 2024, at ECR, Chennai.

Coimbatore: In a groundbreaking development for India's aerospace industry, Space Zone India, an emerging aero-tech company from Tamil Nadu, has unveiled Mission RHUMI 2024. This pioneering mission will feature India's first reusable hybrid rocket launched from a mobile launchpad, marking a significant milestone in the country's space exploration efforts.

The official launch of the rocket, named RHUMI 1, is scheduled for August 24, 2024, at ECR, Chennai. This innovative rocket combines the advantages of both liquid oxidizer and solid fuel propellant systems, aiming to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs. The mobile launch system adds flexibility, allowing launches from various locations.

RHUMI 1 will carry three Cube satellites designed to monitor and collect data on atmospheric conditions, including cosmic radiation intensity, UV radiation intensity, and air quality. Additionally, the rocket will deploy 50 different Pico satellites, each dedicated to studying various aspects of atmospheric conditions such as vibration, accelerometer readings, altitude, ozone levels, toxic content, and natural and synthetic molecular bonding of fibers.

Dr. Anand Megalingam, Founder and CEO of Space Zone India, emphasized the importance of sustainable and cost-effective solutions in space exploration. He stated, "Mission RHUMI 2024 is a direct response to this need. By introducing a reusable hybrid rocket, we are not only reducing the financial burden of space exploration but minimizing its environmental impact."

Dr. Mylswamy Annadurai, known as the "Moon Man of India," highlighted the uniqueness of the hydraulic mobile launchpad. He explained that this innovative system provides unparalleled flexibility and efficiency, allowing adaptation to various launch scenarios with ease.

Jose Charles Martin, Managing Director of Martin Group, expressed his company's support for the initiative as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. He stated, "By supporting Mission Rhumi-2024, we are not only supporting a ground-breaking space mission but also enhancing the lives of future generations through educational and research-based programs that enlighten deserving students."

The unveiling of Mission RHUMI 2024 represents a significant step forward in India's space technology capabilities, combining innovation, sustainability, and educational opportunities in the field of aerospace.
