'Claims of No Toilet Facilities in Government Hospital are False,' Says Dean of Coimbatore Medical College Hospital

Dr. Nirmala, Dean of Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, addressed recent concerns about hospital facilities. She clarified misconceptions and outlined ongoing improvements in a press conference held on Tuesday.

Coimbatore: Dr. Nirmala, Dean of Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, held a press conference on Tuesday to address recent concerns and clarify misconceptions about the hospital's facilities.

Dr. Nirmala stated, "Action has been taken against the individual who attempted to misbehave with a trainee doctor on the 14th of this month. We are also addressing the demands made by trainee doctors regarding toilets and basic facilities. The work to rectify these issues is ongoing."

She further explained that the hospital premises have 250 CCTV cameras installed. "We are currently repairing a few non-functional cameras. The issue of inadequate lighting in the hospital has been completely resolved," she added.

Addressing the false claims about lack of toilet facilities, Dr. Nirmala emphasized, "These reports are untrue. We have prepared toilets in 5-6 locations within the hospital premises." She also mentioned that they have requested the Police Commissioner to ensure enhanced security measures at the hospital.

The Dean acknowledged that being an old building, the government hospital does have some shortcomings. "We are immediately addressing these issues. Road work and underground sewage connection work are scheduled to take place in the hospital premises, which will provide quick solutions to some problems," she said.

Dr. Nirmala also addressed the issue of congestion in the hospital premises due to parking. "We are working on measures to alleviate this problem. Visiting hours for patients are strictly from 4 PM to 6 PM, and only two attendants are allowed per patient. We are emphasizing that it's inappropriate for entire families to stay in the hospital," she stated.

In light of recent events, police patrolling within the hospital premises has been increased. Dr. Nirmala concluded by saying, "So far, no cases of monkeypox have been confirmed in Coimbatore. However, we have all necessary facilities ready for treatment if needed."
