Coimbatore: Muhammad Rafi, a member of the Tamil Nadu Minority Welfare Commission, has announced plans to develop educational institutions and healthcare facilities in minority-dominated areas of Coimbatore. The areas identified for development include Karumbukadai, Saravanampatti, and Athupalam.

Rafi, who was recently appointed to the commission by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, made these announcements during a felicitation ceremony organized by the Jeeva Shanthi Foundation in Aathupalam. The foundation is known for its social welfare activities across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and other regions.

Speaking at the event, Rafi emphasized the importance of quality education and strong moral values for the younger generation. He praised the current Dravidian model government led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for its inclusive approach towards all communities.

As a member of the Minority Commission, Rafi outlined several initiatives for minority-dominated areas in Coimbatore. These include:

1. Establishing a government bank in the region

2. Opening a maternity hospital

3. Upgrading existing government primary schools to high schools

Rafi assured that he would bring these matters to the government's attention and work towards their swift implementation.

The event also saw the launch of free self-defense and yoga classes for underprivileged children. This initiative aims to guide the current generation away from negative influences and provide them with valuable life skills.
