A young man caused panic in Coimbatore's Vellakinar area by threatening people, climbing cell phone towers and damaging property. Thudiyalur Police, with the public's help, apprehended him and sent him to Coimbatore GH for further medical intervention.

Coimbatore: A young man from North India caused panic and disruption in the Vellakinar area of Thudiyalur, Coimbatore, over the past two days. The incident occurred along the Mettupalayam Main Road, where the youth was seen roaming around, engaging in alarming behavior.

Witnesses reported that the individual climbed a cell phone tower in the area, threatened passersby on the main road, and obstructed traffic. The situation escalated on September 1st when the youth targeted street vendors, pushing their carts and breaking earthen pots displayed in front of shops.

Alarmed by the youth's erratic behavior, local residents alerted the Thudiyalur police. With the help of the public, law enforcement officials managed to apprehend the individual. Upon questioning, it was revealed that the young man was suffering from mental health issues.

Recognizing the need for immediate medical attention, the police arranged for an ambulance to transport the youth to the mental health center at the Coimbatore Government Hospital. The swift action taken by the police, with the cooperation of local citizens, helped prevent any potential harm to the public and ensured that the troubled individual received necessary medical care.

This incident highlights the importance of community vigilance and the need for prompt response in situations involving individuals with mental health concerns. It also underscores the crucial role of mental health awareness and support systems in urban areas.
