Coimbatore: In a patriotic surge leading up to Independence Day, the Coimbatore postal division has set an impressive record by selling 4,000 national flags through its network of post offices. This initiative was part of a nationwide effort to encourage citizens to hoist the tricolor at their homes during the celebrations.

The national flags were made available at post offices for a nominal price of Rs. 25 each, making it accessible for a wide range of citizens. The sale began on August 10th and concluded on August 14th, just in time for Independence Day.

Speaking about this achievement, Sivasankar, the Senior Superintendent of Post Offices for the Coimbatore Division, said, "The sale of national flags was carried out across our main post offices at R.S. Puram and Coimbatore Road, 80 sub-post offices, and 97 branch post offices. We are pleased to announce that we successfully sold 4,000 national flags within this short period."

This initiative not only facilitated easy access to national flags for the public but also reinforced the post office's role as a community hub.
