Students from Nirmala College for Women conducted a road safety awareness program at Sungam Junction, Coimbatore, featuring street plays and cow dances to educate the public about traffic rules and the Good Samaritan Scheme.

Coimbatore: In a unique initiative to promote road safety, students from Nirmala College for Women staged street plays and performed cow dances at Sungam Junction in Coimbatore on Sunday (Sept. 03). The event, organized by the Tamil Nadu Traffic Warden Organization in collaboration with the college's Road Safety Patrol, aimed to raise awareness about road safety measures and the Good Samaritan Scheme.

Over 30 students participated in the awareness program, which was graced by the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Traffic, Ravichandran, as the special guest. The students carried banners and placards to educate motorists and the general public about crucial road safety practices such as wearing helmets, fastening seat belts, and adhering to traffic rules.

The event also focused on promoting the Good Samaritan Scheme, which encourages people to help accident victims without fear of legal consequences. The students' innovative approach, particularly their cow dance performance wearing cow masks, caught the attention of onlookers and effectively conveyed the importance of road safety.

Addressing the students, Additional Deputy Commissioner Ravichandran emphasized that road safety can only be achieved when everyone travels safely without causing inconvenience to others. He expressed hope that such initiatives would contribute to creating an accident-free Coimbatore.

The awareness drive creatively combined education with entertainment, making it a memorable experience for both participants and spectators. By using street theater and traditional dance forms, the students successfully delivered important messages about road safety and civic responsibility to a diverse audience.
