Traffic Disrupted for 30 Minutes Following Bus-Motorcycle Collision on Valparai-Pollachi Road

A state bus and a motorcycle collided on the Valparai-Pollachi road near Cauvery Estate, causing injuries and halting traffic for half an hour. Police urge caution while driving in hilly areas.

Coimbatore: A collision between a state bus and a motorcycle on the Valparai-Pollachi road near Cauvery Estate resulted in injuries and traffic disruption for half an hour. The incident occurred when a state bus traveling from Pollachi to Valparai collided with a motorcycle carrying tourists from Perinthalmanna, Kerala, to Valparai.

The motorcyclist sustained severe leg injuries in the accident. The collision led to a 30-minute traffic jam on the busy road. Emergency services promptly responded, with a 108 ambulance arriving at the scene to transport the injured to a nearby hospital. Traffic flow was restored after the road was cleared.

Kadamparai police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. In light of this accident, Valparai Police Inspector Anandakumar has issued safety guidelines for tourists and locals traveling in the hilly region:

1. Drive vehicles slowly in the mountainous areas.

2. Vehicles going downhill should give way to those coming uphill.

3. Two-wheeler riders should exercise extra caution, especially during rainy conditions.

4. In areas like Cauvery Estate and Oomayandi Mudakku, where heavy fog is common, drivers should use headlights and proceed slowly as oncoming vehicles may not be visible.

These precautions are particularly important given the current rainy weather and the increased risk of accidents in the hilly terrain of Valparai.
