Tamil Nadu Sarvodaya Sangam Employees Protest Production Halt and Job Losses

Employees of Tamil Nadu Sarvodaya Sangam stage sit-in protest at headquarters in Tiruppur, demanding increased production and job security amidst sales decline and workforce reductions.

Coimbatore: Employees of the Tamil Nadu Sarvodaya Sangam have launched a sit-in protest at the organization's headquarters in Tiruppur, accusing the management of halting production and causing job losses due to declining sales.

The Tamil Nadu Sarvodaya Sangam is known for producing a wide range of handicraft items sold through Khadi Kraft centers. These products, including bamboo items, incense sticks, soaps, mattresses, and various handicrafts, have gained popularity among the public for their quality.

However, protesters claim that for the past two years, the head office in Tiruppur has been negligent in properly manufacturing products and procuring items for sale. This has reportedly led to a significant drop in sales and subsequent job losses for workers involved in production. The demonstrators are demanding immediate action to increase production and revive the Sarvodaya Sangam.

The sit-in protest at the headquarters in Gandhi Nagar, Tiruppur, involves both sales personnel and production workers of the Sarvodaya Sangam. They are urging the management to address their concerns and take steps to protect their livelihoods.
