Government Officials Pay Tribute to V.O. Chidambaram's Statue in Coimbatore

On V.O. Chidambaram's 153rd birth anniversary, Coimbatore district officials honored his statue at V.O.C. Ground with floral tributes, marking the occasion with respect and reverence.


Coimbatore: The 153rd birth anniversary of V.O. Chidambaram, fondly known as Kappalottiya Tamizhan (The Tamil Helmsman), was celebrated today (Sep. 5) across Tamil Nadu. To commemorate this occasion, various groups and officials paid their respects by garlanding statues and portraits of Chidambaram in all districts.

In Coimbatore, a solemn tribute was paid at the V.O.C. Ground, where government officials gathered to honor the statue of V.O. Chidambaram. Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati, City Police Commissioner Balakrishnan, Mayor Kalpana Anandakumar, Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabhakaran, and Deputy Mayor Vetri Selvan were among the dignitaries who offered floral garlands and paid their respects to the freedom fighter's statue.



The ceremony was a testament to the enduring legacy of V.O. Chidambaram, who played a significant role in India's struggle for independence. His contributions, particularly in the maritime sector, earned him the title of Kappalottiya Tamizhan. The officials' presence and the act of garlanding the statue symbolized the continued reverence for national heroes and the values they stood for in the fight for freedom.
