Armed Police Conduct Security March in Mettupalayam Ahead of Vinayagar Chaturthi

Ahead of Vinayagar Chaturthi, armed police conducted a security march in Mettupalayam to ensure public safety. Over 500 police personnel participated in the parade, showcasing readiness for the upcoming festival celebrations.

Coimbatore: In preparation for the upcoming Vinayagar Chaturthi festival, a significant police security parade was conducted in Mettupalayam on Saturday. The march, led by West Zone IG Senthil Kumar, aimed to ensure public safety and prevent untoward incidents during the festival celebrations.

The parade commenced from Mettupalayam Cooperative Colony and concluded at the local police station, with over 500 police personnel participating. The show of force included law and order police, rapid action force, rural police, and special task force members armed with rifles.

This security measure comes in light of the planned installation of more than 200 Vinayagar idols in Mettupalayam and surrounding areas like Karamadai, Sirumugai, and Annur. Various Hindu organizations are set to conduct processions after two days of festivities, culminating in the immersion of idols in the Bhavani River.

Authorities have deployed over 1,000 police personnel to maintain vigilance throughout the festival period.

The extensive security arrangements underscore the administration's commitment to ensuring a peaceful celebration while safeguarding public safety during the processions and immersion ceremonies.

The armed police parade served as a visible deterrent and reassurance to the public, demonstrating the readiness of law enforcement to handle any situation that may arise during the festive period in Mettupalayam and its surrounding regions.
