Tamil Nadu Postgraduate Teachers Association Protests for Old Pension Scheme Implementation in Coimbatore

Members of the Tamil Nadu Postgraduate Teachers Association staged a demonstration at the District Chief Educational Office in Coimbatore on September 5, demanding the implementation of the old pension scheme.

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Postgraduate Teachers Association organized a protest demonstration at the District Chief Educational Office in Coimbatore on Thursday, September 5, demanding the implementation of the old pension scheme.

The demonstration was led by Mohamed Kaja Muhaideen, the Coimbatore district president of the Tamil Nadu Postgraduate Teachers Association. More than 20 participants, including Solomon Raj, the district secretary of the association, along with other officials and teachers, took part in the protest.

The protesters held banners and raised slogans urging the immediate cancellation of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and the reinstatement of the old pension scheme. They emphasized the importance of reverting to the previous pension system, which they believe offers better financial security for retired teachers.

The association members expressed their concerns over the current pension scheme and its impact on the long-term financial stability of teachers post-retirement. They argued that the old pension scheme provides more comprehensive benefits and security for educators who have dedicated their lives to the teaching profession.

This demonstration is part of a larger movement by government employees and teachers across Tamil Nadu, who have been consistently voicing their opposition to the Contributory Pension Scheme and advocating for the return of the old pension system.
