Special Train to Run Between Madgaon and Velankanni via Coimbatore

Railway administration announces a special train service between Madgaon (Goa) and Velankanni, passing through Coimbatore and Tirupur. The train will operate on September 6 and 7, serving multiple stations across states.


Coimbatore: The Railway administration has announced the operation of a special train between Madgaon, near Goa, and Velankanni, which will pass through Coimbatore and Tirupur. This move aims to enhance connectivity and facilitate travel between these destinations.

According to the schedule, the Madgaon-Velankanni special train (No. 01007) will depart from Madgaon station on Friday, September 6, at 12:30 PM and reach Velankanni the next day at 12:25 PM. On the return journey, the Velankanni-Madgaon special train (No. 01008) will leave Velankanni on Saturday, September 7, at 11:55 PM and arrive at Madgaon station the following day at 11:00 PM.

The Salem Railway Division has announced that this special train will make stops at several key stations along its route. These include Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, Tiruchirappalli, Karur, Erode, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Shoranur, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Thalassery, Kannur, Payyanur, Kasaragod, Mangaluru, and Udupi.

This special train service is expected to benefit passengers traveling between Goa and Tamil Nadu, as well as those from intermediate stations in Kerala and Karnataka. It provides a convenient travel option for pilgrims visiting the famous Velankanni church and tourists exploring the Goa region.

Passengers are advised to check the exact timings and dates of the train service at their respective stations and make reservations accordingly. The introduction of this special train is part of the Railways' efforts to meet the increased travel demand during the festive season and provide better connectivity between different regions of South India.
