2500 Police Personnel Deployed for Vinayagar Chaturthi Security in Coimbatore

Coimbatore city and rural areas gear up for Vinayagar Chaturthi celebrations on September 6 with enhanced security measures. 2500 police personnel to be deployed across the district to ensure peaceful festivities.


Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police Department has issued a press release on September 5 regarding the security arrangements for the upcoming Vinayagar Chaturthi festival. The Hindu festival, celebrated nationwide, is scheduled for Saturday, September 6.

Various Hindu organizations, including Hindu Munnani and Shiv Sena, are set to install Vinayagar idols across Coimbatore city and its outskirts. In preparation for the event, the district administration has conducted a coordination committee meeting to discuss the guidelines to be followed during the festival.

The police department has also held consultative meetings to plan security arrangements at idol installation sites and procession routes. Hindu organization members are working alongside the police to ensure safety at these locations.

Key immersion sites for Vinayagar idols in the city include Kurichi Lake, Muthannan Lake, and Singanallur Lake. Over 30 locations across the district have been designated for idol immersion. Authorities have instructed that the Fire and Rescue Services Department should oversee the immersion process.

For the Vinayagar Chaturthi celebrations, the police department has announced the deployment of a total of 2,500 police personnel. This includes 1,500 officers in Coimbatore city and 1,000 in the surrounding rural areas.

The extensive security measures aim to maintain peace and order during the festive celebrations, ensuring a safe environment for devotees and residents alike.
