Two Ramps Connecting Ukkadam Flyover to Sungam Bypass to Open on Monday

Two ramps connecting the Ukkadam Flyover to Sungam Bypass in Coimbatore will be opened for public use on Monday, September 9, 2024, enhancing connectivity and easing traffic flow.

Coimbatore: The State Highways Department officials have announced that two ramps connecting the Ukkadam Flyover to the Sungam Bypass will be opened for public use on Monday, September 9, 2024. This development marks the completion of a crucial component of the Ukkadam-Athupalam Flyover project in Coimbatore.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the main stretch of the Ukkadam-Athupalam Flyover on August 9, 2024. The project, which began in 2018, was largely completed in July 2024. The 3.8-kilometer flyover, constructed at a cost of Rs. 481.95 crore, required additional ramps for vehicles to access the Sungam area.

During the inauguration, the ramps connecting the flyover to Sungam via Valankulam were still under construction. The authorities had planned to complete these ramps by the end of August, and work has been progressing rapidly to meet this deadline.

The newly completed ramps include both an up-ramp and a down-ramp, facilitating smooth traffic flow between the Ukkadam Flyover and Sungam Bypass. These ramps have been equipped with electrical lighting to ensure safety during night-time travel. The opening of these ramps is expected to significantly improve traffic management in the area, providing motorists with more efficient routes and reducing congestion on surrounding roads.

With the completion of these ramps, the entire Ukkadam-Athupalam Flyover project is now fully functional, marking a significant milestone in Coimbatore's urban infrastructure development. Motorists and residents alike are eagerly anticipating the opening, which is set to enhance connectivity and ease travel across this bustling part of the city.
