Ancient Kariya Siddhi Vinayagar temple in Anaimalai Hills hosts Vinayagar Chaturthi celebrations. Worship conducted to protect tribal people from wild animals, followed by annadanam for 300 villagers.

Coimbatore: The ancient Kariya Siddhi Vinayagar temple in the tribal area of Anaimalai Hills, bordering Tamil Nadu and Kerala, witnessed a grand celebration of Vinayagar Chaturthi. The event included special worship to protect the hill-dwelling people from wild animals, followed by annadanam (food offering) for the tribal villagers.

Every year, the tribal people and farmers residing in the Anaimalai Hills area come together to celebrate Vinayagar Chaturthi with great fervor at the Kariya Siddhi Vinayagar temple. This year, poojas were performed for the Vinayagar idols located inside the temple and under a tree. Devotees prayed to Kariya Siddhi Vinayagar for protection from elephants and other wild animals that frequently roam the area.

After the poojas, annadanam was provided to over 300 villagers, sponsored by Bhuvaneswari, a local woman farmer. The event highlighted the community spirit and cultural significance of the festival for the tribal population in the region.
