PSG College Footover Bridge in Coimbatore Being Reconstructed

The footover bridge connecting PSG Tech and PSG Management College in Coimbatore, demolished in March, is being rebuilt to facilitate student movement amidst the ongoing Avinashi Road flyover construction.

Coimbatore: The PSG College footover bridge in Coimbatore, which was demolished in March this year, is now being reconstructed to facilitate easy movement for students between PSG Tech and PSG Management College.

The original footover bridge, built in 2007, was removed to make way for the construction of the 10.1 km long elevated corridor on Avinashi Road. The bridge had been a crucial link for students for over 15 years, as both PSG colleges share the same hostel facilities.

The new footover bridge is being constructed slightly below the ongoing Avinashi Road flyover. Unlike its predecessor, the new bridge features a modern design. Currently, half of the bridge structure has been installed, with work progressing steadily.

The reconstruction of the bridge comes as a relief to students who faced difficulties crossing the busy Avinashi Road after the old bridge was removed. The original bridge was also accessible to the general public, adding to its utility.

Authorities expect the new footover bridge to be completed and opened for use by students and the public in the near future. This development will significantly improve safety and convenience for pedestrians, particularly students, in the area.
