Former AIADMK Councillor from Pollachi Municipality Joins DMK

In Pollachi, a former AIADMK councillor Murugan has joined the DMK party in the presence of DMK district secretary Thalapathi Murugesan, signaling a shift in local political allegiances.

Coimbatore: In a significant political development, Murugan, a former AIADMK councillor from Ward 12 of Pollachi Municipality, has officially joined the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). The transition took place in the presence of DMK district secretary Thalapathi Murugesan.

Murugan, who served as a councillor during the AIADMK regime, made the switch to the DMK, following a trend that has been observed since the DMK came to power. Several former AIADMK members have been crossing over to the DMK in recent times.

The joining ceremony was marked by a warm welcome from DMK officials. Pollachi DMK town secretary Navaneethakrishnan and general committee member Ragu Durairaj were among those who greeted Murugan, draping him with a shawl as a gesture of acceptance into the party fold.

This move is seen as part of the ongoing political realignment in the region, with the DMK strengthening its base by inducting experienced local leaders from the opposition. The inclusion of Murugan, with his previous experience as a councillor, is expected to bolster the DMK's presence and influence in Pollachi's municipal politics.
