Coimbatore: In a heartwarming gesture of humanity, the family of a 40-year-old tailor from Nallur, Tiruppur district, consented to donate his organs after he was declared brain dead following a road accident. The government honored the deceased for this noble act.

Sivakumar, the tailor, met with a tragic accident on the night of September 7th while attempting to cross a road. He sustained severe injuries when a vehicle hit him. Bystanders rushed him to Tiruppur Government Hospital, from where he was later transferred to Coimbatore Government Hospital for advanced treatment.

At the Coimbatore Government Hospital, Sivakumar was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. Despite the medical team's best efforts, he was declared brain dead. The hospital authorities approached his wife and family members, explaining the concept of organ donation and its potential to save multiple lives.

After careful consideration, Sivakumar's family gave their consent for organ donation. His heart was donated to a private hospital in Coimbatore, while his liver was sent to a private hospital in Salem. Two kidneys were donated to another private hospital in Coimbatore, and his eyes were given to the Coimbatore Government Hospital.
