District Collector Promises Swift Relief for Coconut Farmers Affected by Root Wilt Disease

Coimbatore District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati assured swift relief for coconut farmers affected by root wilt disease during a public outreach camp in Samathur near Pollachi.



Coimbatore: District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati has assured that steps will be taken to provide swift relief to all coconut farmers affected by root wilt disease in Coimbatore district.



The assurance came during a public outreach camp held in Samathur Town Panchayat near Pollachi, Coimbatore district.





Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati inaugurated an exhibition set up by various departments including Horticulture, Agriculture, Social Welfare, and Public Health.



During the event, the Collector distributed welfare assistance worth Rs 89 lakh 80 thousand to 275 beneficiaries under various schemes including Horticulture, Agriculture, free house site pattas, Cooperative Credit Society, and Kalaignar Kanavu Illam.



Speaking to reporters later, Kranthi Kumar Pati said, "Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has allocated Rs 18 crore for coconut trees affected by diseases including root wilt in Coimbatore district. Rs 13 crore has already been received and distributed to farmers. An additional Rs 5 crore has been requested from the government." He assured that measures would be taken to provide relief to all affected farmers soon.

The Collector's statement comes as a relief to coconut farmers in the region who have been grappling with the root wilt disease, which has caused significant damage to coconut plantations. The government's financial support is expected to help farmers recover from their losses and potentially replant affected areas.
