Auto Drivers Clash with Knives in Coimbatore, Video Goes Viral

Coimbatore: A shocking incident of violence between two auto drivers unfolded near the Kamarajar Nagar bus stop in Sundarapuram, Coimbatore, on Monday evening. The clash, which involved knives and stone-throwing, caused traffic congestion and left one person injured.

The altercation took place between Kathiresan (35) and Udaya Suriyan (30), both auto drivers from the Sundarapuram area. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the two men attacking each other with stones and chasing each other with knives in the middle of the road. The violent confrontation resulted in Udaya Suriyan sustaining a knife injury to his hand.

Alarmed by the incident, passersby immediately alerted the Sundarapuram police. Officers quickly arrived at the scene to investigate the matter. Upon inquiry, it was revealed that the two auto drivers had a history of frequent disputes over picking up passengers.

The injured Udaya Suriyan was admitted to Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the police are questioning Kathiresan about the incident. The viral video of the clash, which has been circulating on social media platforms, has caused a stir among Coimbatore residents.

Authorities are concerned about the brazen nature of the attack, which occurred in broad daylight on a busy street. The incident has raised questions about the safety of commuters and the need for stricter regulations in the auto-rickshaw sector.

The Sundarapuram police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations into the matter. They are also looking into measures to prevent such violent confrontations between auto drivers in the future.
