Kerala Fish Waste Water Dumping Vehicle Seized Near Pollachi

Public protest erupts as a vehicle from Kerala dumps fish waste water on the national highway near Komangalamputhur, Pollachi. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about waste disposal from neighboring states.



Coimbatore: A vehicle transporting fish waste water from Kerala was intercepted by local residents near Komangalamputhur on the national highway near Pollachi, Coimbatore district. The incident sparked a public protest against the illegal dumping of waste in Tamil Nadu.

The vehicle, owned by Stephen from Nagercoil, was en route from Kozhikode to a private company named MPN in Thoothukudi, which produces fish oil and poultry feed. As the vehicle was passing through Komangalamputhur, it allegedly opened its tanks and began dumping fish waste water onto the national highway.



Alert locals who witnessed the act immediately stopped the vehicle and alerted the Komangalam police station. The vehicle was subsequently taken to the police station for further investigation.

Local residents expressed their concerns about the recurring issue of waste dumping from Kerala. They stated, "Vehicles from Kerala have been dumping chicken waste, medical waste, and fish waste in various parts of Tamil Nadu. Such activities should be immediately banned."

The incident has raised questions about interstate waste management practices and the need for stricter monitoring of vehicles transporting waste materials across state borders. Local authorities are expected to take action against those responsible for this illegal dumping and implement measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
