Over 500 Students Begin Postgraduate Journey at Kumaraguru Institutions, Coimbatore

Kumaraguru Institutions welcomed over 500 new postgraduate students across various programs. The Swagatham 2024 event introduced students to campus facilities and opportunities, with a focus on academic excellence and holistic development.

Coimbatore: Over 500 students have embarked on their postgraduate journey at Kumaraguru Institutions, enrolling in various programs including M.E., M. Tech., MBA, and MCA Programs. Students have been inducted into three of our esteemed institutions: Kumaraguru College of Technology, KCT Business School, and Kumaraguru School of Business.

Swagatham 2024 was held to welcome these new students into the Kumaraguru community. The event also provided parents with an opportunity to learn about the institution's vision and its commitment to continuously enhancing academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular programs. Parents were encouraged to actively participate in their children's educational journey, fostering a collaborative partnership.

For the students, Swagatham was a chance to explore campus facilities and discover various opportunities to identify and develop their unique interests and talents. Following Swagatham, students will participate in Ignite 2024—a three-day event designed for them to meet peers and seniors who will guide them through the Kumaraguru learning experience.

The Swagatham event was divided into two sessions where the first session was for the M.E., M. Tech. and MCA students. The second session was students from the KCT Business School, and Kumaraguru School of Business.

Session: 1 Event to welcome M.E., M. Tech. and MCA students Welcome Address by Dr M Ezhilarasi, Principal, Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT):

Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) proudly welcomes the new batch of postgraduate students! This year, we are thrilled to have a diverse mix of students with 55% male and 43% female enrolment, coming from 4 countries, 14 states, and 100+ places across Tamil Nadu.

We’re also proud to see many of our students’ parents as entrepreneurs, reflecting the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship that aligns with KCT’s values. This year, KCT has achieved 100% admission in over 9 postgraduate programs, which is a significant milestone.

A special mention to the team behind our new curriculum, which emphasizes industry immersion, internships, and project-based learning with 80 credits. This curriculum is designed to equip you for real-world challenges, especially with strong industry collaborations with companies like Ashok Leyland and Data Patterns.

KCT has also earned prestigious accolades, including CIOB accreditation for Civil Engineering and ACBSP accreditation for our Business School. We’ve received several awards, including The Economic Times for innovation in teaching and learning, and best infrastructure.

The responsibility now rests with you to uphold KCT’s legacy. We believe that with your efforts, we will achieve many more milestones in the years ahead. Welcome to KCT and best wishes for your journey.

Shankar Vanavarayar, President, Kumaraguru Institutions:

It's an honor to welcome you to Kumaraguru College of Technology, especially as we celebrate over 40 years of shaping young minds. To the parents, thank you for trusting us. Whether from near or far, your decision to join us out of so many institutions is both a privilege and responsibility.

In today’s fast-paced world, the value of postgraduate education remains significant. It’s not just about acquiring skills for a job but about deep learning and contributing meaningfully to society. At Kumaraguru, we emphasize a holistic ecosystem that nurtures both knowledge and vision.

As we welcome our 41st batch of students, we reflect on our founder's vision: empowering young people to transform the nation. This vision, rooted in discipline, passion, and commitment, continues to guide us.

The world you are entering is complex but full of opportunities. Climate change, technology, and global competition are shaping the future. Your time here will prepare you to not just adapt but thrive in this evolving landscape.

Make the most of every moment, engage deeply with your subjects, and stay curious. Education at Kumaraguru is a transformative journey, and it will only be as enriching as the effort you put in. I wish you all the best as you embark on this exciting chapter. Thank you.

Dr S Raghupathy, Director, Strategic Planning and Review:

Speaking on the benefits of pursuing a postgraduate (PG) program, Dr Raghupathy said you get two valuable years to focus on in-depth learning, internships, and projects. You gain specialized knowledge that goes beyond the basics. Second, you develop critical thinking and the ability to ask questions. You get more attention from faculty, allowing for deeper, more personalized learning. Third, you get access to more resources, like our library, where you can dive into journals and research, building confidence in your chosen field.

I encourage you to take this time seriously. Think critically, ask questions, and make use of all the resources available to you. Finally, let me end with a Zen story. A student traveled to learn from a Zen master, and during their meeting, the master served tea. He kept pouring tea until the cup overflowed, teaching the student that to learn something new, you must first empty your mind. With that, I congratulate all of you for choosing Kumaraguru. Good luck and best wishes!

Event to welcome MBA students and their parents:

Welcome Address by Dr Mary Cherian, HoD, KCT Business School:

Our student diversity is impressive, with more than 50% being girls, and students from various districts of Tamil Nadu, as well as a few from other states.

The MBA programs include specialized courses such as the new MBA Logistics and Supply Chain Management program, in collaboration with CII, ensuring industry relevance.

The curriculum focuses on holistic learning, sustainability, technical skills, and innovation. It has been designed with input from industry mentors and global institutions, ensuring practical exposure and competencies in areas like business acumen, leadership, and decision-making.

A highlight of our MBA program is its ACBSP international accreditation, ensuring global recognition of your degree. We urge parents to stay engaged with mentors and support your child's progress.

MBA at Kumaraguru is a prestigious program, and we encourage you to take it seriously, work hard, and make the most of the opportunities.

Presidential Address by Shankar Vanavarayar, President, Kumaraguru Institutions:

As your president, I'm excited to welcome you all to this special occasion. I hope parents are as eager as their children to see what lies ahead for them. I'd like to welcome all the students who are pursuing their masters and MBA degrees. This year, our portfolio of courses has grown significantly, and we hope it will continue to expand in the future.

I'm also here to welcome you as a person who has completed two management degrees myself. I hope my experiences can offer you some guidance as you embark on your own educational journey.

I want to remind you that this is likely the last formal learning journey you'll undertake. Make the most of it. This degree is like the icing on a cake – it's the finishing touch to all the hard work you've put in over the years.

I want to thank you for choosing Kumaraguru. You had many options, but you chose us. That means a lot to us. We're committed to providing you with a high-quality education and a supportive environment.

Congratulations on reaching this milestone. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
