Anti-Corruption Bureau Raids Singanallur Sub-Registrar Office in Coimbatore, Seizes ₹1.50 Lakh

The Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted a surprise raid at the Singanallur Sub-Registrar Office in Coimbatore on September 19, following complaints of bribery. Officials seized Rs.1.50 lakh in unaccounted cash from an employee.


Coimbatore: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a surprise raid at the Singanallur Sub-Registrar Office in Vellalore, Coimbatore, on Tuesday evening (September 19). The raid was prompted by complaints that the Sub-Registrar, Nancy Nithya Caroline, was collecting bribes from the public and business organizations through document writers for property registrations.

Acting on the complaint, a team of ACB officials led by Inspector Parimala carried out the sudden inspection. The officials locked the main gates of the Sub-Registrar office and interrogated the employees present on the premises. During the search, they seized ₹1.50 lakh in unaccounted cash from an employee named Keerthi.

The raid, which took place just before the office's closing time, created a tense atmosphere in the vicinity. ACB officials are continuing their interrogation of the office staff regarding the seized cash and the allegations of bribery.

The Singanallur Sub-Registrar Office, located in Vellalore, Coimbatore, has been under scrutiny following multiple complaints from the public about corruption in property registration processes. The raid is seen as part of the ongoing efforts to curb corruption in government offices and ensure transparency in public services.

As the investigation is ongoing, further details are awaited. The ACB's action has been welcomed by local residents who hope it will lead to improved services and reduced corruption in property registration procedures.
