Commissioner Inspects Stormwater Drain Renovation in Coimbatore's 8th Ward

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran IAS conducted an inspection of stormwater drain renovation works in Ward 8 on September 20. He also reviewed various infrastructure projects in the area.


Coimbatore: Corporation Commissioner M Sivaguru Prabakaran IAS conducted a comprehensive inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects in Coimbatore's eastern zone on Wednesday, September 20. The focus of his visit was the stormwater drain renovation work in Ward 8, covering areas including Kalappatti, Veeriampalayam Road, and PSG Layout.

The Commissioner personally visited the sites to assess the progress of the stormwater drain renovation project. He examined the current state of the drains and discussed improvement measures with the accompanying officials.



Following this, Prabakaran inspected the site for additional classroom buildings at the Nehru Nagar Corporation Middle School in Ward 6. The project, estimated at Rs. 87.50 lakhs, aims to enhance the educational infrastructure in the area.



The Commissioner's next stop was a public toilet facility in the Kalappatti and Veeriampalayam area. After a thorough inspection, he instructed the officials to expedite the renovation of the toilet complex to ensure better sanitation facilities for the residents.



Prabakaran then proceeded to the Veeriampalayam and Kattur areas to inspect the stormwater drain renovation work. He interacted with local residents, listening to their concerns and feedback regarding the ongoing projects and general civic issues.



During his visit to the Kattur area, the Commissioner paid special attention to the stormwater drain system. He examined the existing infrastructure and discussed potential improvements with the engineering team to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon season.



Throughout the inspection, Prabhakaran emphasized the importance of quality work and timely completion of the projects. He urged the officials to ensure that the renovated stormwater drains effectively manage rainwater and prevent flooding in low-lying areas.



The Commissioner was accompanied by a team of officials including Assistant Commissioner Muthusamy, Assistant Engineer Rajesh Kanna, Ward Councillor Ponnusamy, Zonal Health Officer Vijayakumar, Assistant Engineer Kumar, and other Corporation officers. This collaborative approach allowed for a comprehensive review of the ongoing projects and addressed various aspects of urban development in the eastern zone of Coimbatore.
