The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced 25 new road projects for Tamil Nadu, including a 182 km long Coimbatore-Karur 6-lane highway with ring road connections, estimated at ₹7,565 crores.

Coimbatore: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has unveiled plans for 25 new road projects in Tamil Nadu, marking a significant boost to the state's infrastructure development. Among these projects, a major highlight is the proposed 6-lane highway connecting Coimbatore to Karur, which includes ring road connections.

The Coimbatore-Karur highway project, stretching 182 kilometers, comes with an estimated cost of ₹7,565 crores. This ambitious project aims to enhance connectivity between the two important cities and improve overall transportation efficiency in the region.

According to NHAI officials, the project report preparation for these new road projects is currently in progress. The detailed project reports will outline the specific requirements, environmental considerations, and economic impacts of each proposed road.

The Union Minister for Highways is reportedly taking proactive steps to ensure that the implementation of these projects can commence as early as next year. This move demonstrates the central government's commitment to enhancing Tamil Nadu's road infrastructure.

These new road projects are expected to significantly improve interstate connectivity, reduce travel times, and boost economic activities in the regions they traverse. The Coimbatore-Karur highway, in particular, is anticipated to be a game-changer for the western part of Tamil Nadu, facilitating faster movement of goods and people.

As the project reports are being prepared, local authorities and stakeholders are likely to be consulted to address any potential concerns and to maximize the benefits of these infrastructure developments for local communities.

The announcement of these 25 new road projects, including the Coimbatore-Karur highway, has been welcomed by various sectors, particularly industries and businesses that rely heavily on efficient transportation networks. It is seen as a positive step towards Tamil Nadu's continued growth and development.
